We were incredibly proud to see our Level 2 and Level 3 Hairdressing students enter this year’s Concept Hair Awards  a competition that truly celebrates creativity, individuality and technical skill.

This year, our learners submitted entries across a variety of exciting categories, including:

From each category, only the final six are selected to progress to the live finals in March in Telford where competitors will go head-to-head and recreate their looks under pressure.

We had an amazing time developing these looks  from initial mood boards and concept planning through to final execution. The creativity, commitment and teamwork shown throughout the process was fantastic to see.

A Special Mention – Alwena (Level 3 Hairdressing)

We are thrilled to share that Alwena has successfully reached the final in the Hair Up category and will now compete live in Telford this March 👏

Before finding out she had reached the final, Alwena shared her thoughts on entering the competition:

 Alwena’s Competition Reflection

“Concept Hair competition is a fantastic opportunity for students to get creative. I especially love Avant Garde hair because it gives me the chance to use my imagination and go as bold and creative as I want!

You’re given a brief, but you can interpret it in your own way  which means you see so many completely different hairstyles at the end.

This year I entered Avant Garde, Textured Hair and Art Deco styling, so I’m really hoping I can get through with at least one!

I entered last year but wasn’t successful. At that point, I had only been doing hair for about four months, so I still had a lot to learn. Over the last year, my tutor has helped me develop my skills so much. I’ve learned what my strengths are and where I need to improve, which has helped me focus my practice.

Competitions are an added bonus to our college course. We get to learn things we wouldn’t normally cover, meet new people in the industry and hopefully open doors to future opportunities.”

Now, after all that hard work and determination, she has achieved her goal and secured her place in the final — an incredible accomplishment and proof of how much she has developed over the last year.

We are so proud of all our students who entered. Competing takes courage, resilience and dedication — and every single entry reflects the high standards we strive for.
